Portrait Drawing

Monday 7:00 - 9:00pm  

In this fully tutored three week course we will look at a variety of methods to tackle the essentials of portrait drawing, completing the course by working directly from life with a portrait model.

This course is ideal for anyone who finds portraiture difficult or wishes to improve their skills.

 

Course dates: November 11th, 25th and December 2nd

3 week course £60

 

   

Open Art Class

Monday 1:00 - 3:00pm  

This course offers class members the chance to work on their own project or any medium of their choice. 

If you'd like to attend a relaxed and friendly class, working on something of your own but with tutor help and advice throughout this class is ideal.

You'll need to bring your own materials and ideas! 

 

Next course begins October 21st (current course can be joined at any time, get in touch for details)

NB. This course is not held in the Hopkirk but in another westend venue.

 

6 week course £90 

 

 

Drawing & Painting

Tuesday 1:30 - 3:30pm 

 

These classes offer in-depth tuition and practical experience of a different medium or subject every six weeks. Some past examples are landscape painting, pen & ink, expressive watercolours, portrait painting in soft pastel and many more. Materials list provided

6 week course £100

Life Drawing

Tuesday 7:00 - 9:00pm every week

 

Working from a different nude model each week, this tutored class is ideal for beginners and those with more experience.

Each session is booked by replying to a weekly mailout.

Drawing boards are provided. Suggestion for initial materials; A3 sketchpad with HB & 4B pencils or charcoal.

All places booked weekly via mailing list or direct email. Booking is essential as the class is usually full.

To reserve a place or be added to the class mailing list just get in touch.

£10 per session payable on the night.

Oil Painting

Wednesday 7:00 - 9:00pm  

Working from images or your own ideas, class members are able to really get to grips with oil painting. Often regarded as a difficult medium to use, oils are in fact the most forgiving of all mediums; allowing all manner of working methods, expression and experimentation. With group and individual tuition in colour mixing and painting methods, class members will be provided with a peaceful, supportive and friendly atmosphere to get the most out of the course. This class is ideal for complete beginners and those with more experience. Over 100 photographs available at the venue to work from. Materials list provided

Drawing Skills

Thursday at Kelvingrove Museum 1:30 - 3:30pm    

 

Drawing directly from life is perhaps the best way to improve our drawing skills. Working in Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, these classes offer the perfect opportunity to train in drawing and sketching from direct observation. With tuition and guidance, class members are guaranteed to improve their drawing ability. Focusing on a different method or material at each course. Materials list provided.

Drop-in Portraiture class

Thursday 7:00 - 9:00pm  

Everyone is welcome to attend this new drop-in portraiture class.

Working from a different model each week, this tutored class is ideal for beginners and those with more experience.

Each session is booked by replying to a weekly mailout.

Drawing boards are provided. Suggestion for initial materials; A3 sketchpad with HB & 4B pencils or charcoal.

All places booked weekly via mailing list or direct email.

Due to the nature of portraiture spaces are limited to allow a good view of the model.

To reserve a place or be added to the class mailing list just get in touch.

£10 per session payable on the night.

Saturday Oil Painting (morning and afternoon classes)

Saturday 10:30am - 12:30pm   

Saturday 1:30 - 3:30pm     

 

Working from provided images or your own ideas, class members are able to really get to grips with oil painting. Tutored 4 hour pose - Life Drawing

Sunday 12:00pm - 4:00pm

With one pose for the duration of the class these sessions are idea for those interested in working with a longer timescale and with whatever medium they prefer.
